Fans and the colleagues agree 11 is VaShawn Mitchell’s number and as the year draws to a close Mitchell reflects humbly on a year of unexpected highs, numerous honors and a few # 1’s to place under his belt.
For starters, Mitchell’s hit single “Nobody Greater” was recognized in Billboard magazine’s annual Year in Music issue for having the # 1 most played Gospel Song of 2011. Additionally he was named the # 1 Billboard Gospel Radio Artist while his album “Triumphant” was # 5 on the publication’s Top Gospel Album Chart.” These are all huge accomplishments for which Mitchell gives God all the credit.
VaShawn also leads the way with 11 Stellar Award nominations and continues to graciously accept the various honors and award nominations that have come his way.
As a recording artist and minister of music VaShawn Mitchell is moving full steam ahead, with no signs of slowing down any time soon. Mitchell will close the year out with numerous appearances and will usher in a fresh and exciting 2012.
VaShawn will open the year adding actor to his resume as he gears up for lead roles in 2 new plays. A Gospel Music Channel Presentation, “Suga Mommas” and a stage play called “Always Remember.”
“Always Remember” is a gripping family drama where Mitchell is cast as a troubled college student and son of a wealthy business owner. The production will open to a limited run Friday, January 6th at 8PM and Saturday, January 7th at 2:30PM and 8:00 PM at the Temple Theatre in Philadelphia PA.
